Police disperse housing protesters at Lisbon tent camp
Police used shields and batons to disperse housing protesters from a tent camp in Lisbon's Rossio Square on Sunday.
Al Jazeera reports that police used shields and batons to disperse housing protesters from a tent camp in Lisbon's Rossio Square early on Sunday morning. The camp had been erected following a march the previous day where thousands demanded the government withdraw a proposed rental bill. Police also dismantled a smaller encampment in Porto. The operation followed similar dispersals the previous week, which drew criticism from lawmakers and rights groups.
