Golden State Valkyries win first WNBA championship in Game 7
The Golden State Valkyries beat the Atlanta Dream 68-63 in Game 7 of the WNBA Finals, winning their first championship in just their second season.
The Golden State Valkyries defeated the Atlanta Dream 68-63 in Game 7 of the WNBA Finals on Saturday night at Chase Center in San Francisco, winning the franchise's first championship in only its second season of existence. Gabby Williams led the Valkyries with 30 points, including 28 in the second half, and was named Finals MVP. The Dream, seeking their first WNBA title in their fourth Finals appearance, were held back by struggling performances from Angel Reese, who finished with eight points and 12 rebounds. The victory marked the first Game 7 in WNBA Finals history, as the league transitioned to a seven-game series format last year.
