Nineteen walkers in dressing gowns completed a 5K walk through Ipswich to raise funds for Cancer Support Suffolk.
Nineteen walkers in dressing gowns completed a 5K walk through Ipswich on Monday, October 12, to raise funds for Cancer Support Suffolk. The group started at Christchurch Mansion and finished at Riverhills Health Club & Day Spa in Bramford, with the route taking them through Ipswich town centre.
The participants included cancer patients, supporters, and staff from both Riverhills and Cancer Support Suffolk. As they walked, they were greeted with cheers, waves, and encouragement from members of the public.
Mark Murphy MBE, CEO of Cancer Support Suffolk, said: 'What a fantastic fundraising event, we certainly got lots of interest from passersby.' The event was conceived by Cancer Support Suffolk ambassador Dave Courteen, who wanted a fun and light-hearted way to raise awareness and funds. On completion, participants were awarded medals and treated to hot drinks at Riverhills. Organisers hope the Robe-A-Thon will become an annual event.
