AC Milan will face Inter on Saturday 31 October at the San Siro stadium, with kick-off at 19:45 GMT. The match will be broadcast free on BBC Two, with coverage beginning at 19:40 GMT, and available to stream via BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website for UK viewers with a valid TV licence.

Inter are currently second in Serie A, having won seven of their eight league matches so far. AC Milan sit fifth in the table with five wins and three draws, leaving them seven points adrift of the league leaders.

The fixture holds particular significance in the history of the Milan derby. An iconic photograph taken 21 years ago during a 2005 Champions League quarter-final between the teams has come to symbolise their rivalry. The image, captured by photographer Stefano Rellandini, shows Inter defender Marco Materazzi with his elbow on the shoulder of Milan attacker Rui Costa as flares and smoke filled the San Siro. That match was abandoned in the 73rd minute after flares and objects were thrown onto the pitch by Inter supporters, with the tie subsequently awarded to Milan, who were leading 3-0 on aggregate at that point.
