Age UK Isle of Wight is calling for knitters and crocheters to help create 20,000 miniature hats for the 2027 Innocent Big Knit campaign, which aims to raise £6,000 for vital services for older people on the island. Hats will appear on Innocent smoothie bottles in early 2028. The charity has already collected more than 2,000 hats just over two weeks into the campaign.
Joe Hodgkinson, marketing and digital communications officer at Age UK Isle of Wight, said: 'Island knitters gave us a wonderful response last time, and we'd love to build on that together.' He added that every contribution towards the 20,000-hat target would be welcome, whether from individuals or groups. Supporters can post or deliver hats to Age UK Isle of Wight at 17 St Thomas' Square, Newport, and should include their name, number of hats, and contact details. A local hand-in deadline will be announced before the national cut-off of October 1, 2027.
