Amanda Owen's daughter Nancy is preparing for a ballet exam while growing up on the family's remote Swaledale farm.
Amanda Owen's youngest daughter Nancy is preparing for a ballet exam as the fourth series of Our Farm Next Door returns to More4. The programme shows Nancy rehearsing at a village hall, revealing a different side of life at Ravenseat beyond the family's work on their remote Swaledale farm.
Nancy is usually seen helping with animals and working alongside her eight siblings on the family's sheep, cattle and other livestock operations in Upper Swaledale. Ballet offers a skill away from farm work, contrasting with the world in which she has grown up amid difficult weather conditions and the demands of rural life.
As the Owen children grow older, their individual interests are taking centre stage. The programme continues to document everyday life at Ravenseat, including the family's restoration of Anty John's farmhouse. There is no suggestion that Nancy plans to give up farming, but the series shows how the children are developing interests and ambitions of their own.
