Aston Villa play Fenerbahce in the Champions League at Villa Park.

Aston Villa host Fenerbahce in the Champions League at Villa Park in a return to European football's elite competition.

Manager Unai Emery said competing in the Champions League is 'a really huge challenge' and expressed motivation for the fixture. He recalled the club's 1982 European Cup triumph and their recent Champions League campaign two years ago, when he said Villa 'enjoyed it' and 'competed at the highest level'.

Emery acknowledged that the stadium will have fewer supporters than normal but said this should not be used as an excuse. He called on the team and supporters to push together and focus on playing better football and competing more effectively than they have done recently. He described these improvements as more important than stadium issues.
