Former US president Barack Obama criticised Donald Trump's record during a midterm campaign rally in Ohio on Saturday.

Former US president Barack Obama criticised President Donald Trump's 'cruelty and corruption' during a midterm election campaign rally in Ohio on Saturday, urging voters to reject the Republican administration. Obama said Trump 'chose to make a series of bad decisions', particularly highlighting what he called an unnecessary war that 'nobody asked for', referring to the US-Israel war on Iran. He urged Ohioans to vote against Republicans, saying: 'After two years of chaos and cruelty and corruption and incompetence, the likes of which we have not seen in the modern era, you get a chance to say, Enough is enough.'

The former president also attacked Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. According to Al Jazeera, Obama said of Ramaswamy: 'In recent days, we've seen there is no line he will not cross, no low he will not sink to.' This followed a controversial attack advertisement by Ramaswamy against Democrat Amy Acton. In the advertisement, Acton's mother disputes her daughter's account of childhood homelessness and sexual abuse by her stepfather. The Daily Mail reports that Obama also mocked Trump's focus on home renovations, joking about his White House construction projects and taste for gold, and accused Trump of using the presidency to enrich himself, his family and allies through cryptocurrency ventures and government contracts involving his children's businesses.
