Bexhill seafront fountain project reaches procurement stage

Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 30 Oct, 06:15 · Archive

Plans to reinstate a fountain at Bexhill's De La Warr Pavilion have reached procurement, with three councils now partnering on the project.

Plans to reinstate a fountain on the front lawns of the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill have moved a significant step closer, following a partnership between the Bexhill Neighbourhood Board, Bexhill-on-Sea Town Council and Rother District Council. The project has now reached the procurement stage.

Abi Newbury, chair of the Bexhill Neighbourhood Board, said the three-way partnership was helping turn a long-held community ambition into a project with real momentum. 'Local people have told us how much the fountain matters to them, and by working together we can bring this much-loved feature back to life as a welcoming, family-friendly seafront space for residents, businesses and visitors to enjoy,' she said.

The fountain project forms part of the board's four-year Regeneration Investment Plan and is funded through the Government's Pride in Place programme. Rother District Council will lead the procurement process as both landowner and accountable body for the funding. Bexhill-on-Sea Town Council has agreed in principle to take on future maintenance responsibilities, subject to lease and construction quality arrangements.
