Brooklyn Meyer returns to SDSU women's basketball for fifth season

Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 29 Oct, 04:44 · Archive

Brooklyn Meyer will play a fifth season for South Dakota State University women's basketball after a federal court ruling expanded eligibility for NCAA athletes.

Meyer had announced in May that she would use her remaining eligibility to join SDSU's volleyball team. However, a U.S. District Judge's ruling this summer ordered the NCAA to allow a fifth year of eligibility for NCAA athletes, and Meyer never played for the volleyball team.

Meyer has been one of the most dominant players in SDSU history, with over 2,000 career points. She was named Mid Major Player of the Year last season. Her return gives coach Aaron Johnston another opportunity to make a run at the NCAA Tournament.
