Alastair Lee is bringing his BritRock Film Tour to Burnley Mechanics Theatre.
Filmmaker Alastair Lee is bringing his acclaimed BritRock Film Tour to his hometown. The tour features four adrenaline-fuelled films exploring some of the world's most challenging climbs and breathtaking scenery. The 80-date international tour includes two of Lee's own films.
Lee grew up above his family's bakery in Brierfield and was first introduced to climbing at the Thompson Centre in Burnley. He said of his path into filmmaking: 'As soon as I tried rock climbing, I fell in love with it. It not only became a passion but a career as I travelled the world capturing the spirit and atmosphere of some of the planet's most stunning landscapes in rock-climbing films and mountain photography.'
Lee launched the BritRock Film Tour 12 years ago as an annual showcase of the year's best climbing and adventure films. One of his own films in the line-up is Journey to the End of the Ego, which follows climber Franco Cookson's attempt to conquer Ben Loyal in Scotland. Other films featured include Dreamrime, a 20-minute exploration of the unique rime and mushroom formations in Patagonia's Cerro Torre towers, and Inside the Mountain, which follows Olympian Molly Thompson-Smith and climbing legend Steve McClure as they tackle a route inside Britain's deepest open caveshaft.
