Comedian Joe Lycett has awarded a £100 bar tab to The Crown in Cuddington, a community pub supported by former Spandau Ballet star Tony Hadley.

Comedian Joe Lycett has awarded a £100 bar tab to The Crown in Cuddington, near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, as one of several pubs selected to receive support through his Channel 4 show Live from the Lycett Arms. The pub is backed by former Spandau Ballet star Tony Hadley, who has been involved in supporting local pubs as community assets.

The Crown reopened in 2024 following a £660,000 fundraising campaign that took just six weeks to complete. The pub's managers said the community 'refused to let it be lost' when its future was uncertain. It is now owned by more than 200 shareholders through a Community Benefit Society, ensuring it remains independent rather than controlled by a brewery or distant company.

Lycett's initiative involves pledging 'a little bit of money' behind the bar at selected pubs across the country to support their role as community hubs. Tony Hadley is bringing his Christmas tour to the New Theatre in Oxford next month.
