Comedian James Acaster revealed himself as a Traitor during the penultimate episode of Celebrity Traitors series two.

Comedian James Acaster revealed himself as a Traitor during Thursday's episode of Celebrity Traitors series two, leading to his banishment in what outlets described as a series-defining moment ahead of the BBC final on October 30.

Acaster, 41, told fellow contestants that he had been made a Traitor without wanting to be. He said he had wanted to be a faithful throughout the competition and had deliberately drawn attention to the perfume bottles used in the 'murder' of Ross Kemp during the game.

After receiving the most votes during Thursday's roundtable, Acaster explained his position to the other contestants. He told them: 'When I came into this experience, I told Claudia (Winkleman, the show's presenter) that all I wanted to be was a faithful, and all I wanted to do is go around this castle and try and help the faithfuls as much as possible catching traitors. I'm really proud to say that's what I've been able to do, under the circumstances. I am, reluctantly, a traitor.'

In a separate interview, Acaster said: 'I'm glad that I was so faithful, that I couldn't make it to the end as a traitor.'

Acaster became the second celebrity to reveal their Traitor status during series two. Richard E Grant had previously outed himself shortly after being chosen as a Traitor and was subsequently banished from the castle.
