Royal Voluntary Service is recruiting 15 volunteers to run a café at Foss Park Hospital in York.

Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) is recruiting 15 volunteers to help establish a café at Foss Park Hospital in York. The volunteer-led café will offer refreshments and provide a friendly welcome to patients, visitors and staff during what the charity describes as potentially difficult or stressful moments in a healthcare setting.

Chris Gray, Director of Retail at Royal Voluntary Service, said: 'We're really pleased to be bringing Royal Voluntary Service's retail services to York. As well as food and refreshments, our cafes offer patients, visitors and staff a friendly welcome and a chance to stop for a drink, something to eat and a chat during what can sometimes be a difficult or stressful time.'

No previous experience is required, and the charity will provide full training and support to volunteers. Zion Ayokunnu, an existing RVS café volunteer, said: 'What's unique about the Royal Voluntary Service café is the way we serve people. We don't just give people coffees and snacks, we serve them with a smile, and I find that customers, whether they're staff, patients or visitors, like to stop for a chat.'
