Adur and Worthing Councils are asking schoolchildren to name eight new food waste collection vehicles.
Adur and Worthing Councils have launched a naming competition for eight new food waste collection trucks that began collecting food waste last month. Schoolchildren across the area have been invited to submit suggestions.
The winning names will be displayed on the trucks, and the children who suggested them will be invited to a presentation day to have their photo taken with the vehicles. A judging panel will select eight winning names, as well as runners-up for two additional trucks that will join the fleet later.
Councillor Andrew Harvey, Adur's cabinet member for the environment, said: 'We're really glad to be launching this fun competition with local schoolchildren, and I'm looking forward to reading all of your entries.' Councillor Martin McCabe, Worthing's cabinet member for environment, added: 'Children often come up with much more imaginative names for things than us adults, so I'm sure we will have no shortage of brilliant suggestions.' Entries must be submitted by Monday, November 9, and children are encouraged to be as creative, imaginative or even silly as they like with their suggestions.
