Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 10 Oct, 06:19 · Archive

Heart of Worcestershire College is urging construction employers to offer apprenticeships in bricklaying, carpentry and property maintenance.

Heart of Worcestershire College is urging construction employers in Redditch, Malvern and surrounding areas to offer apprenticeships in bricklaying, carpentry and property maintenance. The college says apprenticeships give learners the chance to gain hands-on experience while developing the skills needed for a successful career in the construction industry.

Construction apprenticeships in Redditch begin on November 2, while bricklaying and carpentry placements in Malvern start on November 6. Mo Horan, vice principal at the college, said the construction industry plays an important role in the local economy and urged employers to get involved.

Employers who take on apprentices can benefit from financial incentives. These include a £1,000 age incentive grant for hiring apprentices aged 16 to 18, paid in two instalments over the first 12 months. Non-levy employers can also access a £2,000 hiring incentive for apprentices aged 16 to 24 who have been with the company for no longer than 90 days. A £3,000 youth jobs grant is available for apprentices aged 18 to 24 who have been on Universal Credit for six months or more, paid directly to the employer by the Department for Work and Pensions.
