15 climate projects awarded £100,000 by Vale council

Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 11 Oct, 13:19 · Archive

Fifteen climate and nature projects across the Vale of White Horse have been awarded £100,000 through the Vale Nature and Climate Action Fund, the sixth round of funding from Vale of White Horse District Council. The fund supports schemes that reduce carbon emissions, boost biodiversity and help communities live more sustainably.

Among the recipients is the Faringdon Folly Tower Trust, which will lead a community woodland recovery scheme. Other projects include a nature recovery action plan for Wantage and Grove by Sustainable Wantage, and an equipment reuse scheme led by the 30th Abingdon Scouts. The Court Hill Centre in Letcombe Regis will install solar panels, while Stonehill Housing in Drayton and Abingdon will replace its heating system with two heat pumps. A heat pump will also be installed at Stonehill Barn.

Robert Clegg, cabinet member for environmental services, climate action and nature recovery, said: 'These projects show the difference local communities can make when they are given the support to turn great ideas into action.' He added that the funded projects would have 'a positive impact across our community' through renewable energy generation, carbon reduction and wildlife habitat improvements.
