Lovingly Artisan Bakery has won six awards and the North of England Regional Champion title at the Great British Food Awards.

Lovingly Artisan Bakery, which operates in Cumbria and Manchester, has won six awards and been named North of England Regional Champion at the Great British Food Awards ceremony held on 6 October in London. This was the first-ever ceremony for the awards.

The bakery's six product wins included three golds. Its gold-winning entries were its heritage rye flour in the Sustainable Food & Drink category, Northumberland Rye in the Bread category, and Wholemeal Barber Wheat Sourdough, also in the Bread category. It also won silver for its Marmalade & Ginger Sourdough Bake in the Sweet Bakes category and for its Rye Berry Sourdough in the Bread category. Its Malt Fruit Tea Loaf took bronze in the Sweet Bakes section.

Catherine Connor, co-owner of Lovingly Artisan Bakery, said: 'Winning the North of England Regional Award, alongside three Golds, two Silvers and a Bronze, is one of the highlights of the year.' She added: 'It shows that, across the board, our bakery is producing the goods.'

Connor and co-owner Aidan Monks thanked their team, saying: 'We couldn't have done any of this without you – thank you, everyone!'

The Great British Food Awards, launched in 2014, celebrate standout food and drink from across the UK. Entries are judged by a panel of culinary professionals, including chefs, critics and food writers. This year's judges included Raymond Blanc, Nina Matsunaga, Theo Randall, Nisha Katona MBE, Briony May Williams and William Sitwell.
