Bonfire night is lighting up Cumbria with a packed programme of family-friendly fireworks displays. Events are scheduled from 31 October through to 7 November, with professionally organised shows taking place across multiple towns. Highlights include a major display at Bitts Park in Carlisle, lakeside fireworks at Windermere, and community celebrations in Cockermouth, Penrith, Kendal and Barrow.

The Carlisle Fireshow, now in its 37th year, will take place on Saturday, 31 October at Bitts Park. This year's event will celebrate the Tour de France Grand Départ coming to Cumbria next year. More than 35,000 spectators are expected to attend the region's largest display, which will feature a huge bonfire and more than 2,000 fireworks set to music. Bus routes including the 79, 104, 300, 600 and 685, plus all Carlisle City Centre services, will serve the event.

In Cockermouth, a quieter, family-friendly event will be held at Memorial Gardens on Sunday, 1 November, with fireworks starting at 6pm. The X4, X5 and 600 bus routes will serve this event from Cockermouth Main Street. In Windermere, fireworks will light up the sky above the lake on Thursday, 5 November at the Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa. The ticketed event costs £12.50 per person and includes a floating bonfire, fire pits and a lakeside display scheduled between 7.30pm and 7.45pm. The 555 bus route will take visitors to the event.

Barrow will host two separate bonfire events on the same night. The Furness Rugby Club Bonfire Night Bonanza in Croslands Park offers hot food and a bar, with gates opening at 5.30pm. Stagecoach is encouraging residents to leave their cars at home and travel by bus, with routes serving nearly all of the major events across the region.
