Cumbria's first indoor cricket centre opens in Carlisle

Summarised from 3 outlets · Updated 14 Oct, 18:32 · Archive

Cumbria's first indoor cricket centre is opening in Carlisle this month in the former Vasey's furniture store.

Northern Edge Indoor Cricket Centre is opening on 30 October in the former Vasey's building on Lancaster Street in Carlisle. Founded by Paul Hindmarch, a former professional cricketer and captain of Keswick CC, the centre is designed to serve cricketers of all ages and abilities across Cumbria and the wider region.

The centre will feature five indoor cricket lanes with ECB-approved DuraWeave cricket surfacing, BOLA Pro bowling machines, a BOLA TrueMan 3 machine and Full Track AI video analysis technology. Hindmarch said the facility will fill a gap in the market for indoor cricket facilities in the area.

Hindmarch said the centre aims to remove barriers to developing cricket talent in the region. 'Cumbrian cricketers are every bit as talented and ambitious as players anywhere else. But we have always lacked access to high-quality facilities, technology and training environments that can help our players fulfil their potential in comparison to other postcodes,' he said. 'Where a player lives should not determine the quality of facilities available to them or how far they can take their game.'
