A man found dead alongside three family members had been spotted pitching a tent 20 miles from home weeks before the deaths.

Bartlomiej Kuczynski was found dead at his Costessey home on 19 January 2024 alongside his daughters Jasmin, 12, and Natasha, 8, and their aunt Kanticha Sukpengpanao, 36. All four had suffered stab wounds to the neck. The deaths of the girls and their aunt are being treated as murder, while police are not treating Kuczynski's death as suspicious.

On 13 December 2023, Kuczynski had an interaction with police when his vehicle was found obstructing a road at Little Fransham, about 20 miles from his Costessey home. He was spotted attempting to pitch a tent nearby. The following day he was reported missing, then found near his home and taken to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with concerns for his mental health.

A member of the public found a bloodstained knife and blanket alongside empty alcohol bottles in woodland close to his home on 16 January and reported them to police. Norfolk Constabulary said they were not recovered until 19 January, after the deaths, as there was no information at the time linking them to Kuczynski. DNA testing subsequently linked the items to him, although the knife was not the weapon used in the killings.
