Geraint Jones of Bowett Farm in Pembrokeshire has won the 2026 NFU Cymru dairy stockperson award.

Geraint Jones, a stockman at Bowett Farm in Hundleton, Pembrokeshire, has won the 2026 NFU Cymru / NFU Mutual Dairy Stockperson of the Year Award. The award was presented at the Welsh Dairy Show in Nantyci, Carmarthenshire, on 20 October. The competition, now in its 13th year, recognises the contribution a dairy stockperson can make to a dairy enterprise and the wider Welsh dairy industry.

Jones received the top prize of £500 and a Welsh slate engraved cheese board. NFU Cymru Dairy Board Chair Jonathan Wilkinson, who judged the award, said Jones is 'a dedicated and progressive stockman who puts animal health at the forefront of everything he does'. Since taking his position almost six years ago, Jones has demonstrated strong herd management and leadership skills, introducing programmes to improve animal fertility and health through artificial insemination and genetic selection.

These improvements have led to increased conception rates, decreased lameness and mastitis, and a significant reduction in mortality rates across the herd. Jones has also introduced genetic testing of calves to enhance performance and efficiency.
