Drug dealer jailed after texting heroin offers to police

Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 22 Oct, 21:02 · Archive

A drug dealer sent four text messages offering heroin and cocaine to a police officer, not realising who he was contacting.

Dakari Roy Brown, 25, of Bulay Road, Huddersfield, sent four text messages offering heroin and cocaine to a police officer over one week, York Crown Court heard. He did not realise the recipient was not a drug user. The officer answered questions about the deals and the person who had provided the phone number.

Brown was running the Larry drug line with four separate mobile phone numbers whilst targeting York drug users. Judge Sean Morris, the Recorder of York, told Brown: 'This is the first time I have ever come across a dealer contacting police to sell Class A drugs, not realising it was a police officer you had contacted.'

Brown pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply heroin and conspiracy to supply cocaine between December 17, 2025, and September 11, 2026, and possessing criminal cash of £1,390 found during a police raid on his home. He was sentenced to five years and seven months in prison. This is the fourth time in nine years he has been locked up for dealing in Class A drugs. Brown committed these offences whilst on prison licence after being released partway through a previous 69-month sentence for supplying crack cocaine, imposed at York Crown Court in 2023.
