Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 12 Oct, 11:30 · Archive

Irish singer Dermot Kennedy will perform at Belfast's Belsonic festival on 26 June 2027.

Dermot Kennedy will return to Belfast to headline Belsonic at Ormeau Park on 26 June 2027. Belfast Live reports it will be his first full-band show in the city in years. The announcement also covers headline dates at Cork's Virgin Media Park on 23–24 June.

Kennedy released his third UK/Ireland number 1 album 'The Weight of the Woods' in 2026, which he largely wrote and recorded in a studio near his home in rural Ireland with collaborator Gabe Simon, alongside time spent in Nashville. The album comprises 14 tracks drawing inspiration from the Irish countryside, with Kennedy telling Belfast Live: 'To me, the album is a beautiful homegrown thing with Irish instruments and an Irish story.' He added that a forest behind his house serves as a haven for his sense of wonder and that he would not be happy living elsewhere.

Tickets go on sale on Friday, 16 October at 10am through Ticketmaster, with a presale for those signed up to Kennedy's mailing list.
