Photographer Heather Field's Floating Worlds exhibition showcases cold-water swimmers from Chill Dorset's Chilly Dippers group.
Dorset photographer Heather Field has created a new photography exhibition called Floating Worlds that explores the emotional and physical sensations of cold-water swimming. The exhibition features seven members of the Chilly Dippers, a group connected to not-for-profit organisation Chill Dorset.
Field began by photographing the swimmers from the shore, but realised she needed to join them in the water to truly understand their experience. Over ten weeks, she immersed herself with the group to capture their journeys. Jo Cox, hub leader at Chill Dorset, said the organisation was pleased with the collaboration: 'Having her dip alongside us, she has truly captured how we feel, how we see, and how we embrace our beautiful ocean.'
Chill Dorset provides sea swimming courses for adults with long-term health conditions, including those managing anxiety, depression and cancer. The exhibition opens with a reception at Bridge Health & Wellbeing in Christchurch on Tuesday 24 November from 6 pm to 8 pm and runs until 27 November during clinic opening hours. Entry is free, with donations to Chill Dorset encouraged. The exhibition also marks the culmination of Field's MA Photography studies at Arts University Bournemouth.
