Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 13 Oct, 10:32 · Archive
The A120 Wix Bypass will close overnight until October 30 for drainage surveys.
The A120 Wix Bypass between Wix and Horsley Cross will close in both directions on weeknights from 9pm to 5am until October 30. The closures are for drainage surveys, which began on October 5. National Highways will survey the drains, clear them with high-pressure water (a process known as jetting) and inspect them by CCTV.
A spokesperson for National Highways said the work is 'to assess the condition of the drainage network to identify any defects or blockages and help inform future maintenance requirements'. The 14-mile westbound diversion starts at Parkeston Roundabout, follows Parkeston Road, Main Road (B1352), Oakley Road (B1414) and Colchester Road (B1033), then rejoins the A120 at Weeley Roundabout via the A133. Eastbound traffic will leave Horsley Cross Roundabout via the B1035 Clacton Road towards Manningtree, then take the B1352 New Road through Ramsey before rejoining the A120 at Ramsey Roundabout.
Drivers should check National Highways' daily closures page for the latest updates and travel alerts.
