A man has been placed on the sex offenders register after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a teenager on a bus in Edinburgh.

Muddasier Hussain, 39, of Oldham, Lancashire, pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a teenage girl on board a number 3 Lothian bus between Dalkeith and Edinburgh's Newington at around 6.45am on 2 December 2024. The girl was sitting alone downstairs when Hussain boarded and chose to sit next to her despite many empty seats. He then stroked the inside of her thigh before leaving the bus. The girl's mother reported the assault to police, who used CCTV footage to identify him.

Four months later, at around 6.50pm on 5 April 2025, Hussain sexually assaulted a woman outside a shop in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, by touching her breast and genitals over her clothing. The woman's boyfriend recorded him on his mobile phone and handed the footage to police. Hussain was arrested, charged and pleaded guilty to both offences at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday. He has been placed on the sex offenders register.
