Ellen DeGeneres has hinted at a possible television career comeback in Britain, where she moved two years ago.

Ellen DeGeneres has hinted at a possible television career comeback in the UK during a rare interview. The 68-year-old US comedian, who moved to Oxfordshire two years ago with her wife Portia de Rossi, admitted she misses working in television. DeGeneres hosted The Ellen DeGeneres Show for 19 seasons before it ended in 2022, following allegations of a toxic workplace environment.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, DeGeneres said she has considered returning to television in Britain. 'I've nothing really going on and I really miss being on TV,' she said. 'I miss a lot about it – laughing with the writers and the audience. I think about doing stuff here.' She joked about the prevalence of niche programming in Britain, commenting that 'it is pretty easy to get on TV here – you have a pottery show, you have a sewing show, and you even have a show about people watching TV shows.'

DeGeneres also reflected on how her career developed differently in Britain compared to the United States. She said that when she came out as a lesbian in 1997, 'in the US they were not very thrilled about my character or me coming out, so for it to be celebrated in London was such an honour.' She added: 'To be treated that way when everyone else was done with me was extraordinary.' DeGeneres and de Rossi have embraced rural life in Britain, with the comedian previously praising the country's villages, architecture and countryside.
