ESPN announcers Joe Buck and Troy Aikman paid tribute to their colleague David Moulton, who died at 60 after a six-year cancer battle.

Joe Buck and Troy Aikman paid tribute to their colleague David Moulton during ESPN's Monday Night Football broadcast from Philadelphia on 27 October. Moulton, 60, died after a six-year battle with stage four renal cell cancer, with his wife announcing his death on Saturday.

Buck began the tribute by acknowledging the loss to the broadcast team. 'Well, this group lost a dear friend and coworker this week. Our buddy David Moulton passed away at the age of 60,' he said. Buck described Moulton as his right-hand man during Fox golf coverage, whilst Moulton had been Aikman's right-hand man for NFL broadcasts. 'We loved him,' Buck said, before asking that their thoughts be sent to Moulton's family: his wife Julie, daughter Melissa, son-in-law Sean and their two children.

Buck praised Moulton's ability to provide effortless, brilliant information during broadcasts. As Aikman prepared to respond, he became emotional. 'No, he will not,' Aikman said, referring to being replaced. 'He was a fighter right up until the end. He left a hole in a lot of people's hearts and just a good man.' Moulton had worked with the pair across ESPN's Monday Night Football coverage and previously as a spotter for Fox's NFL broadcasts.
