Original features remain most stylish interior design details

Original features such as fireplaces, exposed beams and cornicing are considered the most stylish interior details, according to research.
A poll of 2,000 people has found that original features including fireplaces, exposed beams and cornicing remain the most stylish interior design details. Layered lighting, carefully chosen houseplants and antique furnishings were also identified as top indicators of good taste in a home.
Viral décor trends have proved less successful. Panelling was disliked by 26 per cent of respondents, whilst patterned wallpaper and bold paint colours were each rejected by 25 per cent.
Three quarters of those polled, 77 per cent, believe a home is more aesthetically appealing when it reflects the person living there rather than simply following the latest trend.
Interiors expert and presenter Michelle Ogundehin emphasised the importance of personal choice in design. She said: 'Good design isn't about following a particular look or set of rules. It's about understanding what you need from your home and making choices that genuinely support the way you want to live and feel.' She added that personal elements such as favourite colours, collected items and meaningful pieces make spaces feel truly individual.
The research was commissioned by Samsung to promote the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra tablet, which features Multi Window functionality and Creative Studio tools for comparing fabrics and building mood boards.
