The Falls Spa at Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa near Keswick is expanding with six new thermal experiences including heated pools and a scenic sauna.

The Falls Spa at Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa in Borrowdale, near Keswick, has unveiled plans for a major expansion due to begin in January 2027. The development will introduce six new thermal experiences to the award-winning spa.

The expansion will add a fellside terrace featuring a heated aromatherapy pool, alongside a thermal spa garden. The garden will include a glass-fronted heated relaxation pool, a cold plunge pool and heated outdoor loungers. The project will also feature a new scenic sauna and a poolside lounge.

The designs for the extension use local stone and timber fascias. The spa says the intention is for the development to sit naturally alongside its existing buildings and the Borrowdale Valley landscape.

The Falls Spa will remain open during the work, although some areas will be affected. Its outdoor hydrotherapy pool will remain available alongside 11 of its 12 thermal experiences, with the Finnish sauna the only thermal facility affected. The spa said it would close on days when work was expected to have a more noticeable impact on visitors. Both Mizu and The Falls Brasserie will continue to operate as normal.

The development comes after The Falls Spa received a Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice award for the second consecutive year in 2026, which placed it among the top 10 per cent of things to do worldwide.
