Six schools across Wales have been recognised with Careers Wales Quality Awards for embedding careers education into their curriculum.

Six schools across Wales have received Careers Wales Quality Awards for embedding careers and work-related experiences into their curriculum in line with the Curriculum for Wales. The awards were presented at a national celebration in Cardiff on 13 October.

In Carmarthenshire, Ysgol Bro Dinefwr received gold, Ysgol Glan-y-Môr in Burry Port earned silver, and Burry Port Community Primary School and Ysgol Gynradd Llandybie both achieved bronze. In Ceredigion, Ysgol Gyfun Penweddig received gold and Ysgol Gynradd Gymunedol Llanilar bronze.

Wendy Thomas-Davies, assistant headteacher at Ysgol Bro Dinefwr, said the award had helped the school 'further embed CWRE within our whole-school approach' and 'strengthened our curriculum, enhanced staff awareness, increased learner confidence and aspirations'. Gareth Hughes, post-14 curriculum co-ordinator for Ceredigion Schools Service, noted that the two Ceredigion schools 'have also collaborated to strengthen the transition experience for learners moving from primary to secondary education'.

The award scheme launched as a pilot in 2023 and follows a three-stage model recognising leadership at bronze, development at silver, and impact at gold. Nikki Lawrence, chief executive of Careers Wales, said the scheme helps 'learners to better understand their options, explore opportunities and prepare for their futures'.
