Four men charged over Warwickshire meth lab operation

Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 24 Oct, 15:08 · Archive

Four men have been charged with conspiracy to produce methamphetamine at a farm near Furnace End in Warwickshire. Kenneth Burton, from County Durham, Paul Harkness Mawby and Anthony Devine, both from Stockton-on-Tees, are all aged 34. Mohammed Khan, aged 36 and from Birmingham, was also arrested. The National Crime Agency arrested all four on Thursday and conducted searches in Birmingham and the North East.

Burton, Mawby and Devine are ordered to appear at Teesside Magistrates' Court, whilst Khan will appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Saturday. The charges follow an investigation into an alleged crime group manufacturing methamphetamine, a Class A drug, between February and August this year.

Five Mexican nationals were charged with the same offence and appeared at Warwickshire Crown Court on 10 September. Alejandro Ambriz Dimas, aged 45, is from Michoacan in southern Mexico, whilst Victor Ramirez, 47, Fausto Beltran, 33, Lioncio Moso Borja, 37, and Jose Nunez Angolo, 44, are from the Sinaloa region of northwest Mexico. All five pleaded not guilty to the conspiracy charge. They claim they were legitimately working as chefs and builders on the farm. They are scheduled to face trial in February next year.
