Racing correspondents offer selections for Cheltenham's opening meeting of the jumps season.

Racing correspondents have offered selections for Cheltenham's opening National Hunt meeting of the season.

The Independent Sport's Jonathan Doidge has backed Crooked Path for the first race at 13.15. The gelding, a double-figure price at 9/1 with Ladbrokes, is described as arriving in the form of his life. An all-weather winner over 1m4f, he was campaigned over hurdles in Ireland before being sold for £26,000. He most recently won by 5½ lengths over 2m3f at Fontwell on good to soft ground. Doidge also tips Wondering Why in another race, suggesting the Ben Pauling runner is well fancied by the market.

The Mirror Sport's Steve Jones recommends Love Of Neymore for the Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle at 16/1 each-way with Sky Bet, which pays out on six places. The mare developed into a consistent stayer last season, winning at Chepstow and running third at Cheltenham. Jones also selects Sogna In Grande in the opening chase at 12/1 each-way, suggesting chasing will suit the former hurdles winner who started his career with two successive wins.

Testing ground conditions are expected at Cheltenham during the day.
