A full closure order has been placed on a house in Nelson following concerns about persistent drug use and antisocial behaviour.

A full closure order has been granted on a house in Nelson following concerns about persistent drug use, antisocial behaviour and criminal activity at the property on Regent Street.

A partial closure order was initially placed on 28 July at Preston Magistrates' Court, permitting only the tenant and landlord to enter. Despite this, police officers recorded numerous occasions when people were inside the address in apparent breach of the restrictions. A full closure order was subsequently granted on 14 October at Burnley Magistrates Court, preventing anyone from entering the property until 13 January 2027.

PC Rick Wilson of the Prosper Partnership Team in Nelson said: 'We are aware of the impact this premises has had and hope this result helps local residents feel that their concerns have been heard and acted upon.' He added that officers had attempted to work with the tenant and offer support, but the tenant had continued to disregard the restrictions. Anyone entering the property before the order concludes without reasonable excuse will commit a criminal offence and may face a fine or imprisonment.
