Summarised from 3 outlets · Updated 12 Oct, 12:57 · Archive

A man shot in the head outside a Bexleyheath nightclub has left his attacker jailed for 35 years.

Marvin Bulle, 33, was jailed for 35 years at Woolwich Crown Court on October 9 for shooting a 30-year-old man outside a nightclub on Bexleyheath Broadway in the early hours of January 4. Police were called at about 2.15am and found the victim had been shot in the head at close range. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition, where doctors discovered the bullet had lodged in his spine. He spent eight days in critical care and was left with life-changing injuries.

Bulle, who has no fixed address, fled to Essex and was arrested in Mistley, Tendring on January 14 after a police manhunt. His accomplice, Carlos Parks, 35, of Sidcup Road, Eltham, was jailed for 20 years. Detectives believe the attack followed a minor row inside the nightclub.

Detective Inspector Raymond Sekalongo, from the Met Police's specialist Trident firearms unit, said: 'This assault could so easily have resulted in the victim's death. It is nothing short of a miracle that he survived.' He added: 'Both these attackers are dangerous men, who thought nothing of taking a firearm out onto the streets of London. I am pleased they are now locked up for a significant period of time.' The shooting left the victim with injuries that almost cost him his sight.
