Milnes Bar on Hanover Street has reopened after closing in September for a six-figure refurbishment.
Milnes Bar on Hanover Street in Edinburgh city centre has reopened following a six-figure refurbishment. The pub, which closed at the end of September, revealed its new look on Monday, 2 November. The historic venue retains its 'natural character and charm' whilst having been fitted with 'modern-day comforts'.
The pub first opened as a spirit merchants in 1910 before evolving into a bar by the 1950s. It was once a popular haunt for poets and arts students in the 20th century. The refurbishment has given the bar a new look both inside and out.
General manager Susan Power said: 'This bar is a real gem in the city centre and it's great to be open again for everyone to enjoy our new, enhanced look and feel. It's still full of all the history and character but with those extra special features to really add to the Milnes Bar style and experience. It's lighter and brighter with a new layout for customers to relax and enjoy their drinks and dining.' The pub serves quality food and drinks to suit all appetites and diets, with Sunday roasts described as 'something to behold'.
