The Holden Dealer Team has been revived under new owner Kenny Habul, who plans to develop a new road-going model alongside restoration services.
The Holden Dealer Team, the legendary Australian performance car marque, has returned under new owner Kenny Habul. The company plans to offer restoration and retro-modding services for the iconic Brock Commodore road cars of the 1980s, whilst also developing entirely new vehicles.
Habul told media this week that the company is currently working on three prototypes for a new road-going model. 'It's early days but we have a team,' he said. 'There is a lot of work to do before we have an HDT-reimagined car to present, but there is a fundamental recipe that I think will be very impressive.'
HDT began as a Bathurst 1000-winning motorsport outfit in the late 1970s. Racing driver Peter Brock, a nine-times Bathurst winner and Australia's most celebrated driver, used sales of street-legal performance cars to fund his purchase of the race team at the end of 1979. Brock was killed in a tarmac rally in 2006. The last Australian-made production hot-rod was the Ford Falcon FG X, made in 2018 by engineering company Premcar.
