Retailers are offering gifts for film lovers this season, including nesting dolls featuring Robert Pattinson and a Stanley Kubrick collection.
Film enthusiasts have several gift options available this holiday season, from practical choices to premium collector's items. A nesting-doll set features Robert Pattinson's A24 film characters from 'Primetime', 'The Drama', 'The Lighthouse' and 'Good Time'. More affordable options include gift cards to local movie theatres, home entertainment releases such as 'The Odyssey', and film-themed merchandise including card games and hats inspired by recent releases.
For serious collectors, The Criterion Collection offers a 30-disc Stanley Kubrick boxset featuring 4K restorations of all 13 of his feature films and three shorts, presented together for the first time. The collection is priced at $599.95, with holiday sales anticipated. It includes the international version of 'The Shining', new audio commentaries, unseen screen tests from 'Lolita', rare behind-the-scenes footage from 'Full Metal Jacket' and archival interviews. Archivist Michael Chaiken oversaw the restoration process.
More aspirational options include a Kodak Super 8 camera priced at nearly $5,500 for those interested in creating their own films.
