LeBron James, 41, played 30 minutes in his first game for the Philadelphia 76ers, scoring 10 points in a 114-108 loss to Brooklyn.

LeBron James played 30 minutes in his first appearance for the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night, scoring 10 points in a 114-108 preseason loss to the Brooklyn Nets. The 41-year-old signed with the 76ers on a two-year, $7.95 million veteran-minimum contract in July and had missed the team's first preseason game because of chronic arthritis in his left foot.

James took a playmaking role rather than seeking his own shot, finishing with one field goal made on one attempt and eight free throws made on eight attempts. He also recorded five assists and four rebounds. The Daily Mail reports that James did not attempt a shot until being fouled on a drive with 4:54 remaining in the first quarter, and had 10 points and five assists in the opening half.

James will play alongside fellow All-Star newcomer Jaylen Brown and returning stars Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe. When discussing his arrival at the club in September, James said he hoped to 'bring that experience, bring that knowledge, bring the blueprint' to the team. The New York Post reports that drama has already emerged, with claims that James addressed Joel Embiid after the big man was 'a couple of minutes late' to a practice.
