Liverpool hold the advantage in the head-to-head record with 87 victories to Chelsea's 67 across 200 competitive meetings, with 47 draws. The sides last met in the 2024 League Cup final at Wembley, where Liverpool won 1-0 after extra time.
TechRadar reports that Xabi Alonso returns to Anfield as Chelsea manager for the third time and is seeking his first win in the fixture after defeats with Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid. The outlet adds that Chelsea will also be without forward Joao Pedro due to a thigh injury, and that Emmanuel Emegha could make his Chelsea debut.
The winner will progress to the quarter-finals. The draw for the final eight is scheduled to take place after the evening's matches, around 10.20pm GMT. Bradford City and Fleetwood Town have already qualified after wins on Tuesday, with Fleetwood stunning Arsenal in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw.
