A parade of illuminated tractors will travel through north Hertfordshire on 20 December to raise money for Garden House Hospice Care.
The Farmers on Christmas Lights Tour will return for its sixth year on 20 December, bringing a parade of illuminated tractors through Baldock, Letchworth and Hitchin in north Hertfordshire. Organised by farmer Richard Hill in support of Garden House Hospice Care, the event aims to raise £100,000 through donations, sponsorship and tractor dedications. More than 50,000 people are expected to line the route, which begins at 6pm in Baldock on Clothall Road.
A new sponsorship scheme allows local businesses and members of the public to dedicate a tractor for £250, with logos displayed on the vehicle or dedications in memory of someone. Richard Hill said: "Last year we smashed £56,000 and this year we're aiming even higher – I reckon we could get to £100,000." He has raised more than £250,000 for the hospice through five previous tractor rallies and has received the Heart Hertfordshire Hero Fundraiser Award and BBC Radio Three Counties Radio's Make a Difference Fundraiser Award.
