Amanda Owen and her family are transforming a derelict farmhouse near their Ravenseat Farm in the Yorkshire Dales into a family home.

Amanda Owen and her family are transforming Anty John's, also known as High Smith Holme, a historic farmhouse in Swaledale in the Yorkshire Dales, into a family home. The derelict property near their famous Ravenseat Farm has become the centrepiece of the Channel 4 series Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids, which has documented years of hard work through changing weather and the combined efforts of the Owen family and local tradespeople.

When the project began, the property required extensive work. Its exposed position and historic construction presented particular challenges. Rather than replacing everything with modern materials, the family chose to restore the building while preserving its traditional Yorkshire Dales character. The restoration has unfolded over several years, with early work concentrated on making the building suitable for its new purpose and tackling the challenges of renovating an old property in a remote location.

By the fourth series, airing in October 2026, significant progress had been made inside. Amanda and son Miles began painting walls after newly plastered surfaces had dried, while carpenters worked on laying oak floorboards. The family continued planning how the interior rooms would be used as the building gradually transformed from a construction site into a family home.
