Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 13 Oct, 10:32 · Archive

South Sydney Rabittohs player Jai Arrow has married partner Berina Colakovic in Sicily, months after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease.

South Sydney Rabittohs player Jai Arrow married his partner Berina Colakovic in a ceremony at Borgo del Carato resort in Sicily on 10 October. The couple, who share a one-year-old daughter Ayla, had become engaged in Sicily in 2024 and held a civil ceremony in Sydney in July before returning to the island for a celebration with family and friends.

Sixty-five guests from Australia and Canada attended the wedding at the resort's 19th-century farmhouse. The couple held a Mafia-themed rehearsal dinner on 9 October. For the ceremony, Colakovic wore a strapless gown with Christian Dior heels and a lace veil, whilst Arrow wore a cream suit jacket and bow tie. At the reception, Colakovic changed into a white sequined halterneck dress by Australian label Dio Official.

"Sicily has this beautiful, almost timeless romance to it, and Borgo del Carato felt like somewhere we could completely escape the rest of the world," Colakovic said. "It was one of those rare moments when you wish you could stop time." She added: "Our lives have changed enormously over the past two years. We've become parents, navigated incredible highs and faced challenges we never could have anticipated."

Arrow was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in May, leading to his retirement from the NRL after 100 games. The couple plan to honeymoon in Bodrum on Turkey's southwest coast.
