Three actors are undergoing final screen tests for the role of James Bond, with a decision expected before the end of the year.

The race to find a successor to Daniel Craig as James Bond has entered its final phase, with screen tests for the role set to take place in London this weekend. Three actors will be tested across stunts, camera presence and dialogue.

Pearth Now reports that Jack Lowden (Slow Horses), Callum Turner and one unnamed actor are the finalists, with speculation that the director Denis Villeneuve may be backing the undisclosed candidate. The West Australian names the third actor as Josh O'Connor (The Crown). Earlier reports had linked Jacob Elordi and Jack O'Connell to the role, but The Hollywood Reporter states they are not among those being tested.

The actor chosen will replace Daniel Craig, who played Bond across five films from Casino Royale in 2006 until No Time To Die in 2021. Producer Amy Pascal told Deadline that an announcement by the end of the year 'is a good bet', describing the casting process as 'really, really methodical'. The new untitled Bond film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, with producer David Heyman also working on the project.
