Jesy Nelson pulls out of I'm A Celebrity over twin daughters' health

Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 27 Oct, 10:32 · Archive

Former Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson has withdrawn from I'm A Celebrity due to the health of her twin daughters, who have Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

Jesy Nelson has reportedly withdrawn from I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! just weeks before the ITV series was set to start filming. The former Little Mix singer pulled out due to the health of her twin daughters Ocean and Story, who were born prematurely in March 2025 with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) type 1.

Nelson had been signed to a six-figure deal for the show, which is expected to begin in November 2026. She had hoped to use her appearance as a platform to continue campaigning for SMA awareness. Nelson has already successfully lobbied the Government to implement universal newborn screening for the condition after her daughters were diagnosed too late, following irreversible nerve damage.

A source told The Sun: "Jesy was so excited about joining I'm A Celebrity, mainly because it was giving her a platform to continue her campaigning for SMA. She has already helped change Government policy over testing newborns for the condition. I'm A Celeb was going to be where she could spread her message even further, and show a side to her the public may not have seen before." ITV has indicated that producers are keeping the option available for Nelson to participate in a subsequent series of the show.
