Singer Kelly Clarkson has publicly disputed a Brooklyn boutique's account of an incident at their store.

American Idol singer Kelly Clarkson has become embroiled in a public dispute with Art of Play, a boutique in Brooklyn, New York. Clarkson claimed on social media that staff treated her dismissively, acting as though she could not afford their products. She said she had driven to Brooklyn specifically to visit the store with items in mind to purchase.

The store responded by saying Clarkson had attempted to buy a singing and dancing bird that was not actually for sale. Clarkson disputed this account, posting what she described as a grainy photograph showing the item hanging on the wall with a price tag next to it. The bird is reported to be worth around £11,000.

Clarkson, 44, who relocated from Los Angeles to New York in 2024, compared her experience to a scene from the film Pretty Woman. The public exchange between the singer and the store has generated significant online attention, with Clarkson's social media posts about the incident viewed by over 40 million people in two days.
