Joanne Hunter, co-director of Grasmere Gingerbread, said the sponsorship was generous and hoped the cash awards would encourage culinary professionals from Cumbria to enter. Beth Evans, Head of Sales at Caterite, said the company was delighted to support an event celebrating gingerbread, which she described as an iconic part of Cumbria's food heritage.

All proceeds from the festival will be donated to Shelter, a housing and homelessness charity.
