Lancaster men jailed for sexual offences against women and children

Summarised from 2 outlets · 3 reports · Updated 1 Nov, 05:44 · Archive

Two Lancaster men have been jailed for separate sexual offences involving women and children.

Peter Bebbington was jailed for breaching a five-year Sexual Risk Order made in April. He was spotted at a bus stop on 15 June and officers seized his phone, which was found to have Instagram installed under a different account name, both breaching the order. Forensic examination of his devices found images and videos of women and girls in school uniforms taken in public places including shops, trains and buses. Some images were taken the day after the order was issued. Bebbington also set up 34 Facebook Messenger chat threads using false names including 'John Summer', 'Mike Dalton' and 'Peter Ingham', sending sexually harassing messages to female profiles. The earliest chats began just over an hour after he was told by police not to use Facebook Messenger.

Separately, Stuart Simpson, 40, of Lancaster was jailed for 16 months at Preston Crown Court on 30 October. He admitted making more than 9,900 indecent photographs and videos of children between August 2014 and January 2025. Simpson also possessed 102 extreme pornographic images involving a live animal. He pleaded guilty to all charges on 18 September.
