Robert Plant visited a Tenbury Wells pub with Fairport Convention bassist Dave Pegg before a concert on Sunday.
Robert Plant, the former Led Zeppelin singer aged 78, and Dave Pegg, Fairport Convention's bassist aged 79, visited the Bridge Inn in Tenbury Wells on Sunday before a Fairport Convention concert at the Regal theatre in Teme Street, which ran from 7.20pm to 9.30pm. The two are old friends who shared a drink at the pub bar.
Fairport Convention is marking its 59th anniversary this year. Pegg is also known for his long association with Jethro Tull and the Ian Campbell Folk Group.
Pub landlord Bob Webb was away at the time, meeting his sisters about a family matter. He expressed regret at missing the visit, though noted that the town was no stranger to big musical names. Webb said the Beatles had also played in Tenbury Wells in the sixties.
